I’m not usually one for making resolutions. However, on January 1st of 2016, I made two. The first was to never put shampoos with sulfates in my hair ever again, a pretty easy resolution once you actually start reading the labels on shampoo bottles. The second was to get lost more. This resolution has proven to be much more difficult to maintain. How do you get lost in a metroplex of seven million people? Even more so, how do you do it on a budget when you’re working full time and can only escape for two days out of the week? There have been many days since January 1st where I’ve gone and explored a new place, a new park or a part of town I’ve never been to, but for the most part I’ve failed, opting to spend my time getting lost online or in a book (perfectly acceptable, too). That’s changing soon, though. In September my boyfriend and I will be boarding a plane to Iceland with no return ticket. Our only plan is to spend ten days exploring, camping, and hiking and then getting ourselves closer to mainland Europe. Our only goal: to get lost.
This blog will hopefully be able to capture that journey, but I’m hoping I can do so much more with it. I want to create a space of discovery and adventure, and hopefully make it a little easier for those of you who choose to read this to get lost more too, as well as share your own experiences of getting lost.
My name is Leah, I’m from Dallas, Texas, I’m 30 years old and I’ve waited too long to do this. I’ve been holding onto this dream since I was 15 years old, making resolutions to save more money, to get out there more, and it’s finally happening. I hope you enjoy the ride and thanks for checking us out!
